179 DH for three mini Italian dishes served at the same time. That's the formula everyone's talking about at Felicità, in Casablanca. The name may not ring a bell. The address will. It's on the corner of boulevard de Libye and boulevard Bir Anzarane, in Maârif, where Montpeliano used to be.
New owner, new team, new decor, new menu and completely revised prices. We went to see what it's like.
The Trio Felicità, the good idea
Always torn between pizza and pasta? Here, you don't have to choose. The Trio is a mini salad, a mini plate of pasta and a mini pizza, your choice, with a free drink. All for 179 DH.
The idea is simple. All three arrive at the table together, and you put together your own combination. For a first visit, it's the best way to taste the menu without ordering three dishes.
What's on the menu
The menu is long and very Italian. A few pointers, with prices noted on the SAM.ma listing:
- Pizzas: from the Margherita at 69 DH (San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte) to the Pizza Felicità at 149 DH, with bresaola, fig jam and hazelnuts.
- Pasta: spaghetti bolognese with a ragù simmered for three hours at 89 DH, carbonara with halal lardons at the same price, truffle and mushroom rigatoni at 129 DH.
- Homemade ravioli: from 89 to 129 DH, ricotta and spinach, meat, salmon or black truffle.
- Risotto: seafood at 119 DH, truffle and burrata at 129 DH.
- Meat and fish: beef tagliata at 109 DH, grilled sea bream fillet at 119 DH.
- Desserts: classic tiramisù at 49 DH, panna cotta with red berries at 44 DH.
There are also panuozzi, those Neapolitan sandwiches made with pizza dough, from 69 DH. And a menu bambini at 89 DH with a main, dessert and drink. Handy if you're coming with the family.
To share as a starter, La tavola d'Italia at 119 DH brings together caponata, Cerignola olives, stracciatella, parmesan, pecorino and bresaola. To finish, an Illy caffè at 25 DH or, if you'd rather have something cool, the Felicità mango and raspberry juice at 55 DH.
The atmosphere
The decor has been completely redone. Midnight-blue walls, black and white checkerboard tiles, black and white portraits hung everywhere, and a "La vita è bella" neon sign above the banquettes. It feels like a trattoria Italy, in a polished version.
The listing describes a chic, calm and modern place. It's air-conditioned and accessible to people with reduced mobility. The setting works as well for a dinner for two as for a lunch with colleagues.
Our verdict
The Trio is the real reason to go a first time. The formula is already a hit, and we can see why: you leave with a clear idea of the cooking. After that, the menu is wide enough to come back and try something else.
If you knew Montpeliano, forget what you remember. It's no longer the same place. Felicità is still young, so we don't have much perspective on customer reviews yet. Make up your own mind.
