23 DH. That's the price of the smallest ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery, at Marina Shopping in Casablanca. And that's already enough to understand why the brand is getting people talking.
After its first two addresses in the city, Cold Stone has just opened its third Casablanca outlet, in the Marina shopping centre, on boulevard des Almohades. We dropped by for a taste.
The concept: your ice cream, mixed in front of you
Here, nobody hands you a ready-made cone. You choose a flavour, then your mix-ins: chocolate, biscuits, fruit, sauces, sweets. The team mixes it all in front of you on a frozen granite stone, then serves you.
Three sizes, with English names that are easy to remember:
- Like it: 23 DH;
- Love it: 35 DH;
- Gotta have it: 45 DH.
For the base flavours, there's sweet cream, French vanilla, cake batter, cheesecake, pistachio, coffee, mint, strawberry, chocolate and peanut butter.
Signature creations, for the undecided
Don't know what to mix? The menu offers ready-made recipes. Founder's Favorite combines sweet cream, chocolate sauce, caramel, nuts and brownie. Cheese Cake Fantasy starts with cheesecake ice cream with graham crust, strawberries and blueberries. Coffee fans will head for Coffee Lovers Only.
Our tip: start small. The Like it size is enough for a taste, and you'll come back to try another combination.
Not just ice cream
The Marina menu goes beyond a tub of ice cream:
- signature milkshakes at 45 DH (Oh Fudge, Milk & Cookies);
- crêpes and waffles from 40 to 65 DH, the pistachio version being the most expensive;
- an affogato at 45 DH, with the espresso poured over the flavour of your choice;
- coffees, mint tea at 24 DH and alcohol-free mojitos at 45 DH.
For a birthday, the signature ice cream cakes are 290 DH. And if you want to finish the evening at home, the takeaway tub costs 75 DH for half a litre and 139 DH for a litre.
Our tips for choosing well
- First visit? Go for a signature creation to understand the concept, then build your own next time.
- Coffee fan? The affogato is a good way to round off an afternoon of shopping.
- For a party, the 290 DH ice cream cake makes a change from a classic cake. Ask on site about lead times before ordering.
- For a group, the one-litre tub at 139 DH works out cheaper than four individual ice creams.
The atmosphere
It's in a shopping centre, so people mostly come with family or friends, after a shopping session or a stroll around the Marina. It's lively, it's for sharing, and kids watch their ice cream being made before their eyes. It's open every day.
