Rabat-Agdal high-speed rail station, Rabat-Salé airport or the city centre: where to rent from Hertz in Rabat, how to use the motorway with a Jawaz badge, and 20% off with SAM20.

Rabat is easy to enjoy by tram. But as soon as you want to leave the capital, everything changes. A meeting in Kénitra, lunch in Bouznika, a weekend in Fès: you need a car, and good access to the motorway.
SAM.ma and Hertz Maroc have been partners for 7 years. For you, that means 20% off with the code SAM20. It's already filled in when you use our links.
In this article: Hertz's three branches in Rabat, with a focus on the Agdal high-speed rail station for those arriving on Al Boraq. We also explain the Jawaz badge, the deposit, the fees to expect and a few ideas for trips out of the capital.

The link below opens hertz.ma with the code SAM20 already filled in. All that's left is to choose the branch, the dates and the car.
Arriving by train from Tangier or Casablanca? Hertz has a booth at the entrance to Rabat-Agdal station, where Al Boraq stops. You step off the train and drive away.
Don't mix them up: there's no Hertz branch at Rabat-Ville station. Only at Agdal.
This branch's opening hours aren't published on the Hertz website. Call +212 8 02 00 77 78 before you go. And allow for the station surcharge of 240 MAD incl. VAT.

From Rabat, almost everything goes via the motorway. Casablanca to the south, Kénitra and Tangier to the north, Meknès and Fès to the east. You might as well go through the tolls without stopping.
That's what the Jawaz badge (the motorway electronic toll system) is for. At Hertz, it's called “TAG Jawaz”. It costs 350 MAD incl. VAT per rental and includes 200 MAD of credit for your tolls. You add it when you book.

Doing the Rabat-Casablanca round trip several times a week? Then the badge is really worth it. For a single trip, do the maths.
Another point for long distances: depending on the offer, mileage may be limited to 100 km per day or unlimited. Check carefully what's stated before you confirm. Hertz offers a mileage Pass if you're on a limited offer.
A rental must be booked at least 24 hours before pick-up. And if you change the duration along the way, Hertz's terms state that the promotional rate is dropped in favour of the public rate.
The deposit is taken on your credit card: no passport to leave at the counter. The card must be in the driver's name. Cash, cheques and debit cards such as Visa Electron or Maestro aren't accepted.
Documents: original driving licence (Moroccan, European or international) and national ID card (CIN) or passport.
Additional driver: 100 MAD incl. VAT per day, capped at 600 MAD incl. VAT per contract. To be declared at pick-up.
GPS: 99 MAD incl. VAT per day, capped at 1,782 MAD incl. VAT. Baby seat or booster seat: 99 MAD incl. VAT per day, capped at 594 MAD incl. VAT.
Fuel: return it at the same level as at pick-up. Otherwise, fuel is charged plus a 500 MAD incl. VAT refuelling fee.
No need to go far. Salé, just across the river, with its calmer medina. Mehdia beach, near Kénitra, for a windswept afternoon. The Maâmora forest for a picnic in the shade of the cork oaks.
A proper weekend? Moulay Bousselham and its lagoon, for the birds and the grilled fish. Or head east on the motorway: Meknès, then Fès. To the south, Bouznika and its beaches, on the way to Casablanca.
Want to return the car in another city? Hertz allows it, with return fees that can reach 1,500 DH according to its FAQ. The rental is valid in Morocco only.
Are you more train to Agdal then car, or car all the way?
